Valentine’s Day spending in the United States is expected to reach just under 28 billion dollars in 2025. This is a day in which much of our society will focus on affection.
Throughout history, there's a common custom of placing "X" on envelopes and at the bottom of letters to mean kisses. The letter was said to be "sealed with a kiss." This dates back to the Middle Ages.
Let's take a couple of minutes and consider the thought of "sealed with a kiss" from the Bible. In Psalms 85, you will find these words; "righteousness and peace have kissed each other."
When a person lacks a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the person is without mercy, void of genuine truth, without righteousness and void of inner peace in this world. Jesus proved His sincere affection for you and the entire world by going to the cross and laying down His life. When Jesus died for you, He sealed His love for you with a kiss!
Jesus Himself is mercy, and He is truth. When Jesus becomes your Savior, you are reconciled to God. The broken relationship is fixed, and you are seen as righteous in the eyes of God. This kind of relationship with God will fill your heart with peace.
Mercy and truth met on the cross of Calvary. Righteousness and peace kissed and made up when you personally accepted God’s awesome action of affection and was reconciled to Him. Your salvation was sealed with a kiss at Calvary!
No matter how many billions of dollars are spent in society to magnify affection, the love that God has for you is greater. The best part is that God’s love for you is free.
When you see the "X" symbol that represents kisses, please know that it's really a ✝️. When mercy, truth, righteousness, and peace were at conflict, grace stepped in at the cross and made harmony with Almighty God. Thank God that you belong to Him and that you have been spiritually restored because your salvation was sealed with a kiss at Calvary. 🙏🏾
